A client had a need to upgrade an aging plant wash water system. I designed and implemented a system that recovered waste heat from boiler stacks, rendering condensers & air compressors into a 600,000 Gallon storage tank. During plant operations, water is heated by the process waste energy and collected in the tank. The water is used during the day with 800 GPM pumps for routine use and 3,000 GPM pumps deliver wash water at 140 F. to the facility for 4 hours each night. Energy recovery is in excess of 300,000 DECA THERMS per year.
